New Arlo security camera offers four times more battery life – Arlo 2K XL launches in Australia

Same great camera, a little more bulk. Some of us are carrying around extra weight which doesn’t add any value to our day, in fact, it’s bad for us – it’s ok, I’ve got mirrors. But the new Arlo 2K XL is carrying that weight for a reason, battery life.

At just $199 it’s a ridiculously good value camera which offers 2K resolution in all weather and lighting conditions, but the bigger battery inside paired with the latest software gives an impressive four times more battery life than the current Essential 2K model.

Now there’s no point quoting weeks or months there, because that’s a genuine how long is a piece of string question. If you have your camera notifying you of every movement and recording it all to the cloud, yes, the battery will drain faster the the exact same camera set to a schedule around your time at home, time of day, and the kinds of things you want to be notified of.

That’s why the investment in Arlo Secure plans means you actually get better battery life.

This camera is capable of recognising faces and naming the people at your home (based on what you teach it), or what cars are in the driveway.

You can also use two-way audio to talk to whoever is at the camera.

Bottom line, it’s a winner. Might look at upgrading my hardest to reach cameras to the XL!

A quick note, for those new to Arlo, the Essential Series does not have a removable battery, so when you need to give it juice you have to take it down and charge it like you do your phone etc. But – with this level battery life – that’s going to be rare!

Available now at Arlo’s website and major retailers, there’s also a three camera bundle coming to Bunnings for $569!

Side note, until the end of the year, buy an Arlo camera win a car – so more incentive!
