LG StanbyME Go Review – the 27 inch “TV” you can take anywhere!

LG don’t call the LG StanbyME Go a TV – and for good reason, in the traditional sense it doesn’t do “Television” because there’s no antenna. But be real, in 2024, we call a TV a thing we watch live or on-demand moving pictures on, so it’s a TV. But, it’s a TV in a suitcase that you can take anywhere!

I’ll tell you right now, it’s 12kg and thats not light, but hey – you’re bringing the game to your mates BBQ – all good with a carton in one hand and the TV in another.

This suitcase can sit comfortably wherever you can sit it. Backyard table, Picnic Table, Campsite, Boot of the car, heck – take it anywhere (conditions pending, I mean, I wouldn’t sit it on the sand at the beach, or use it on the beach on a windy day, and of course keep it away from the water – you get my gist.

Flick those satisfying suitcase tabs open and lift the lid and there it is in all it’s goodness.

Laying flat, it turns on straight away (and turns off when you shut the lid), so you can swipe away and find what you need.

Inputs are Power, and USB, while there’s also a HDMI port which is also ARC compatible and a small IR blaster input.

The Music Player is very cool – pair with your smartphone to play your music on the LG StanbyME Go speakers which aren’t too bad. They’re not amazing – but for a small group around the TV it would be fine. The animation on screen shows a turntable playing vinyl – nice retro touch.

But lift up the TV and install your favourite streaming apps, baby, you’ve got the summer of Cricket and Tennis at your fingertips wherever you want it.

All the boys heading around to someone’s place for the afternoon – bring the TV and enjoy it outdoors.

You can use it in a very personal kinda close up mode, or move the screen around to give more people a viewing angle.

Camping would be an epic use for this too, as long as you’re at a drive up campsite – I wouldn’t be lugging this with my camping gear on a hike.

The screen even rotates, so if you wanna watch TikToks, go for it. Not my biggest selling point though.

LG says the battery life is 3 hours, you’re of course going to need mains power to charge it after that.

It is exactly as I remember it when I first saw it almost a year and a half ago, and I’m still fascinated by it.

Is the LG StanbyME going to get daily use? No. Weekly? Maybe. Will it impress people when you say “I can bring a TV so we can watch it there” when There is anywhere? Yes!

At

,999 its an expensive 27 inch touch-screen monitor. But it’s far more than a big Android Tablet. It’s running LGs WebOS so its made for streaming and media.

The downsides are it’s heavy, is 3 hours battery enough, and will you get enough use from

,999.

The upsides are – it’s a PORTABLE TV in a suitcase! Come on!
