CES 2025: Samsung unveils a fridge with a new cooling system to cool more efficiently and avoid large temperature fluctuations

Samsung has announced that it will unveil its new refrigerators with AI Hybrid Cooling technology at CES 2025. They will be available globally later this year.

The new AI Hybrid Cooling technology achieves cooling by using both an efficient compressor with a Peltier module which is a semi-conductor device.  This module cools by harnessing the temperature change caused by the flow of electric current.

The combination of these two cooling processes works similarly to a hybrid car with two cooling sources that are only used at the same time when needed to efficiently cool the contents of the fridge drastically, such as in hot weather or when warm contents are placed inside.

In normal use, only the compressor is used, but the included AI algorithm detects the fridge’s current status and predicts the temperature changes inside to effectively adjust the cooling mode. This process makes the fridge incredibly energy-efficient.

The AI Hybrid Cooling technology enhances the freshness of those perishable foods with Hybrid Precis Cooling.  This decreases the temperature of the fridge when activated, leveraging residual heat from the Peltier module to keep the fridge cool, even while defrosting.

The fridges that feature the AI Hybrid Cooling technology offer a big 900-litre capacity. The increased internal space, provided by utilising the small Peltier module, enhances usability.

We will continue to introduce home appliances that incorporate innovative technologies to make consumers’ daily lives more convenient.

At this stage Australian pricing and availability are unknown but these extremely energy efficient fridges will land Downunder sometime this year.
