Aussie audio and tech brand RØDE has released an updated version of their Wireless Micro, the wireless microphone for content creators which includes an all-new camera connector for those shooting with a traditional camera not a smartphone.
The Wireless Micro Camera Kit takes into consideration all the learnings of the last year or so since their smaller “Micro” microphone was launched.

The new camera receiver is sleek and probably half the size of the previous generation.
When the Wireless Micro first launched it came with two microphones and a small receiver that plugged directly into your smartphone making it simple for modern content creators.
There must have been a large demand for these smaller wireless microphones from people using traditional cameras so RØDE released a Wireless Camera Receiver and offered it free by redemption for people who had already purchased the Wireless Micro kit.
This new Wireless Micro Camera kit is Camera focussed with Smartphones as a bit of an afterthought, the Smartphone USB-C receiver included in the kit.
The on-camera receiver has a 1.1 inch AMOLED screen and simple buttons for navigating the menus to change brightness of the screen, output level control and audio mix (from Split to merged tracks).
It looks great, works well and of course the microphones have outstanding sound too.
Perhaps my only observation is that the full kit includes both the Camera Receiver and Smartphone receiver, but only one will fit in the included Battery charging case.
Never mind – I found a solution – when you’re not using it, plug the smartphone USB receiver into the USB-C charging port of the battery case and keep it there in your kit bag.
This is a highly competitive space, DJI’s wireless microphone offering is wide, targeting the same market, but the Rode Wireless Camera Kit is outstanding value at $250 for a two microphone kit that works on both smartphones and cameras.
