LG Debuts UltraGear Evo Lineup ahead of CES with 5K AI Upscaling

LG have unveiled a new line of gaming monitors ahead of CES, with the launch of their Ultragear evo line, offering 5K AI upscaling in a range of sizes.

The Ultragear evo range will include OLED, MiniLED and ultra-wide formats showcased by their three initial flagship models, the 39GX950B, 27GM950B and 52G930B.

The smallest will be the 27” 27GM950B, which LG says will be the world’s first 5K New MiniLED display which will include improved blooming control by minimising halo effects – an issue that affects MiniLED panels.

LG’s MiniLED display will include ‘Zero Optical Distance’ to minimise the gap between the LEDs and panel, also including 2,304 local dimming zones for excellent contrast in bright and dark scenes, offering vivid highlights and peak brightness of up to 1,250 nits.

The display will feature a 1ms GtG response, with 165Hz refresh rate at 5K resolution, with the option to scale up to 330Hz at a lower QHD resolution.

The Ultragear evo 39GX950B is a 39” curved 5K2K resolution OLED panel in 21:9 ultrawide format offering the same vertical height of a 32-inch screen.

The panel has a 1500R curve and includes LG Primary RGB Tandem OLED technology which LG says will offer  improved brightness, colour accuracy and panel longevity.

The OLED panel will deliver the deep blacks and vibrant, lifelike colours only OLED can deliver, with a DualMode switch offering refresh options of 165Hz at 5K2K and 330Hz at WFHD, with a blisteringly fast 0.03ms (GtG) response.

Both the Ultragear evo 27GM950B and  39GX950B will use a new on-device AI solution, which according to LG ‘the monitor analyses and enhances content in real time before it reaches the panel, delivering 5K-class clarity without requiring GPU upgrades’.

LG will incorporate this on-device AI to extend beyond 5K upscaling, bringing AI Scene Optimisation and AI Sound, which will let the monitor refine images and audio performance which can bring a more immersive experience.

Lee Choong-hwoan, head of the Display Business at the LG Media Entertainment Solution Company said

“The new UltraGear evo marks a definitive turning point, signaling the end of compromises in gaming display performance. With innovations like industry-first 5K AI Upscaling, the lineup ensures that whether gamers prefer perfect blacks, unmatched brightness, or expansive scale, they can enjoy the same high standard of performance, clarity and immersion in high resolution. This reflects our excellence in delivering high-resolution technology not only to the B2C gaming market but also through precision-driven B2B solutions like medical monitors.”

The largest in the new LG UltraGear evo line is the 52G930B which LG is launching as the world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor. Though it doesn’t appear to include the AI features on the 27” and 39” displays.

The 52-inch display is a massive size option for gamers, offering 5K2K resolution at 240Hz with that consistent response needed in-game.

The huge display has a 1000R curve, with a vertical viewing height of a 42-inch display. The monitor can stretch into an expansive 21:9 panoramic view which LG says is 33 percent wider than a standard 16:9 UHD monitor.

The LG UltraGear evo lineup is set to be showcased at CES 2026. Visitors can experience the lineup’s high-quality visuals through two zones: the “Dream Setup” inspired by the Reddit’s gaming communities and a SimCraft-powered racing simulation featuring the new 39-inch GX9.

In addition to the new evo series, sales of the UltraGear™ GX7 (27GX790B) will commence in global markets on the opening day of CES 2026. This 27-inch gaming monitor boasts a QHD Primary RGB Tandem OLED display, 540Hz refresh rate and Dual Mode (HD 720Hz), matching the high expectations of avid gamers.
