If you listen to the Two Blokes Talking Electric Cars podcast that releases every Monday, you’d know that a lot of folks are concerned with having a car big enough to tow their caravan.  EVs use up a lot of battery power when towing and, while some people have made it work, the consensus is that only an ICE vehicle will do when towing a caravan.

At CES 2026, we have seen a US company, Evotrex, unveil a caravan that will charge your car at the end of the day.  The Evotrex-PG5 has multiple power sources: a big 43kWh lithium-phosphate battery, 1.5kW of solar and stored gas (petrol in Australian speak) so you don’t have to stress over its battery. 

The battery on the caravan can be charged via a standard EV charger, using the included solar panels, or the petrol-powered generator system.  Regenerative braking will also add power to the battery while driving.

The big deal though, is that the power in the caravan can be used to charge the EV that got you there via Vehicle-to-Vehicle DC fast charging at up to 60 kW.

Imagine in the future leaving home with a fully charged caravan and car, driving 400km, setting up camp, and then charging the car to nearly full, ready to go the next day.  Knowing that the solar panel can charge the battery offers great peace of mind.

Inside, the Evotrex-PG5 has all the trimmings of a fully equipped caravan.  It can sleep up to four adults, has a water heater, a two-burner stove, fridge and freezer, a 3-in-1 microwave oven airfryer.
