Stumbled across this little gem while wandering the TCL booth at CES 2025 after looking in awe at their latest 115 inch TV. It’s the TCL Play Cube and as you can see by the photo of my hold it – it’s tiny!

To be clear, there’s no firm word that this is coming to Australia. What I do know is that it will launch in some markets in 2025, and – there’s at least one Aussie retailer champing at the bit to get it on the shelves.

Products like this come in the wake of Samsung’s success with the Freestyle Projector which stole the show post-Covid in 2022 here at CES.

That launch created the market for big brand strong value products, alongside a shockingly large amount of cheap knock off style projectors marketed on social media.

TCL’s take is a “Magic Cube Design” which makes it ultra portable. One side with the lens is a cube, with an add on part twisting on that cube to allow you to easily tilt the screen projection up or down.

Critically, and this is a big big deal – it comes with a built-in battery.

We know nothing else, no resolution, no specs.

Seeing it work on a wall in their booth, I’d say it’s as good as any of the other at this size, so not great for bright daytime, however we’ll reserve judgement later.

But, if TCL can bring this into market at $899 or less – it could be a real winner.

Packing Google TV operating system it’s also super compatible to all the apps you might need.
