It’s been three years since Renault’s performance brand Alpine was available in Australia, back then selling the Alpine A110 was impressive as a low riding sports car but now after selling 109 of those, the company is dipping it’s toe back into Aussie waters with their all-electric fastback the A390
Revealed in Europe overnight, the A390 will renew the Alpine brand next year as what’s being called a “Racing Car in a Suit” and I like that idea!

“We are proud to announce the return of the iconic Alpine performance brand to Australia,” said Glen Sealey, the general manager of Alpine Australia.
“We appreciate there is a lot of interest in this vehicle and Alpine’s future plans in Australia. However pricing, timing and specifications will be announced closer to local arrivals.”
Alpine see this as the reinvention of the spirit of the A110 but in a five-seat electric fastback.

One electric motor in the front and two in the rear should deliver some serious performance.
Sitting on the organisations “Ampere” EV platform the car offers Vehicle to Grid charging in France, so we’d hope they’ll enable that here when it’s regulated for home and business use.
Alpine’s A390 will be built in France at the company’s factory in Dieppe, while the electric motors will be manufactured in Cléon.

The French theme continues with the Devialet audio system offering sensational sound.
