It doesn’t matter if you are an adult who loves their gaming, or a parent with a teen nagging you for better gear for their gaming setup – this whole industry can drain the bank account real fast! That’s why this Kogan 27 inch Gaming Monitor really took my interest – serious gaming credentials at a solid price of just $649.

Looking around in Aussie retail, there certainly are plenty of other 27 inch monitors at that price or far less. What’s going to happen when you tell your kids which one you’re getting is they will pull apart its capabilities.

  • Does the monitor have a high refresh rate?
  • What’s the response time it allows for?
  • And is it OLED?

If you tick those boxes with something that does 280Hz refresh, and a 0.03ms response time on an OLED panel – you’re looking at $1000+. Probably $1399.

While of course you can compromise on these things and get something for far less – I would contest that this Quantum Dot OLED from Kogan is an absolute special at $649 ($629 for Kogan First members).

I reckon if you took the Kogan logo off, most people would struggle to place it as anything other than a household brand monitor. The design overall is outstanding, a nice glow around the back where the stand mounts in, a narrow bezel around the screen and a premium white finish.

My only real complaint about this is the lack of a cable management system in the stand – others I’ve tested would feed cables into the stand then back out in a single area at the base of the stand. No big deal, but will require cable management.

Two HDMI ports, Two Display Ports, there’s no lack of functionality here. There’s a slight reflection on the screen if you position it wrongly, but you’ll get that on any good OLED and any good gamer has their room setup with the screen as the focus.

When positioning the screen there’s a decent level of adjustment, with height, pivot and tilt all adjustable with ease.

I do love the simple, white, and flat stand – a solid bit of metal that doesn’t take up space and allows you to put other things in that space like speakers or gaming gadgets.

The design is simplistic, the features are top notch. Well worth your consideration!
