At Los Angeles Airport today inside the United hangar in the shadows of a stunning new Boeing 787-9 Aircraft United Airlines has announced a simple little change to Economy row seating that will please families and some solo travellers too – it’s called Relax Row.

Relax Row takes three seats and allows them to transform into a lie-flat space like a mattress or couch when you’re cruising to your destination on a long-haul flight.

Ideal for families with little ones, the Relax Row allows Mum or Dad to cuddle with the kids while they play, relax or entertain themselves and also while they sleep.

A solo traveller can also book the row and use it as their own lie-flat space with custom-fitted mattress pad making it an almost business class experience.

United Relax Row will launch next year on the Boeing 787 and will expand to more than 200 787 and 777 aircraft by 2030.

There will be up to 12 Relax Rows per flight, nine on average.
