DJI are on a tear at the moment, recently releasing their new power station, and the new Osmo Pocket 4 after jumping into robot vacuums earlier this year.  Today they’ve announced an expansion to their wireless mic range, launching the DJI Mic Mini 2 with a range of colourful magnetic front covers.

The DJI Mic Mini 2 still supports 48kHz, 24-bit audio with up to 400m range, but introduces new features including vocal tone presets to suit different environments and people, as well as two-level noise-cancelling so you can adapt between inside and outside, or just ramp it up when needed.

The Mic Mini 2 also has improved styling options, introducing magnetic covers to cover the mic when attached to your clothes. Most options when purchased will include a Black and White cover, but there’s two options which will be sold separately, either a pack with eight vibrant colours, or four ‘Time Series’ covers created by illustrator Victo Ngai.

The Mic Mini 2 will come with an upgraded charging case, as well as a more compact mobile charging case which is designed to fit the transmitter and receiver and limited accessories.

The battery life including the charging case is up to 48 hours, with the mic lasting 11.5 hours on its own, while the receiver checks out at 10.5 hours.

The Mic Mini 2 will integrate with cameras, smartphones, computers, and tablets, including being able to be paired with the DJI cameras using DJI OsmoAudio Direct Connection.

What the Mic Mini 2 doesn’t have is internal audio recording, though DJI has teased the DJI Mic Mini 2S which will have internal recording, as well as the option to have up to four transmitters with one receiver. The DJI Mic Mini 2S will launch soon ‘this summer’ (our Winter), though no pricing has been announced.

The DJI Mic Mini 2 though is on-sale now through the DJI website from $89 including the Mic, Receiver and charging case or for $149 including two mic’s, a receiver and the larger charging case.

You can bundle the tile covers, or purchase them separately for $35 for the multi-colour pack, or $69 for the Victo Ngai set, with a handy storage case included for both.
