Just like it seems everything else is, your Amazon Prime account is about to get more expensive, with Amazon emailing customers announcing a price hike.

The price increase is effective immediately for new customers, while those currently subscribed will see the price remain unchanged until the first membership renewal date on or after the 25th of November.

According to Amazon, the new fees will be $12.99 per month or $99 per year, a more than 30% increase on the previous $9.99/month fee, and a 25% hike on the previous $79/year fee.

Amazon initially launched in Australia back in 2018 with a promotional price of $4.99/month fee, which jumped to $6.99/month or $59 per year in January 2019, before jumping to $9.99 per month in 2023.

With the more expensive fee, you won’t get more but the services included will remain the same like free delivery including same day delivery on eligible orders, access to Prime Video – though with ads unless you pay extra, Amazon Music Prime, Prime Reading, games through Amazon Luna, and access to Prime Day and Prime Big Deal Days as a member.

The new prices are in effect now on the Amazon Australia Prime Page where you can sign up for a 30-day free trial.
