I wrote a little over a month ago about the Official F1 app for Blackberry and was impressed by that – However over the last week or so I’ve been ‘re-testing’ the iPhone in real life use (more on that soon), so, with the Spanish Grand Prix I took the suggestion of www.f1.com and downloaded the Official Vodafone/LG F1 app for iPhone.

Available FREE at the itunes App Store, it’s an easy download, and crucially, a brilliant app.

F1 App for iPhone - Live timing with Sector times

On the iPhone this app has more features than I saw on the Blackberry, plus the larger screen is more condusive to the live timing.

While watching ONEHD’s Live Race or Qualifying coverage, you like me will likely have a laptop or computer for the live timing (available at www.f1.com if you didn’t already know), so the App is a bit of a gimmick in that case.  However when you consider the Friday and Saturday practice sessions which are not televised here in Australia this is a great app for viewing those sessions no-matter where you are.
