Bang & Olufsen budget BeoPlay V1 TV leaked ahead of launch

Cheap and cheerful and Bang & Olufsen are two things that don’t usually go together. But after the launch of the more affordable Bang & Olufsen Play brand, the Danish high-end AV manufacturer has continued with its new direction by adding a TV to the budget line up.

The BeoPlay V1 will come in two different varieties, a 32-inch or a 40-inch. They will aptly be named the V1-32 and V1-40. The sets will also come with DLNA functionality, five HDMI ports, one USB, integrated 5.1 surround sound and other features that have yet to be confirmed as the sets have, after all, been leaked rather than officially launched. None of the features mentioned are ground breaking, but the price is.

At 2,399 Euro for the V1-32 and 2,899 for the V1-40, they are by far the most affordable Bang & Olufsen TVs ever created. Sure, it’s still a pretty hefty price tag, and if/when they come to Australia there will inevitably be a mark up on top of the standard price conversion, but for B&O it’s a bargain.

What are you paying for? Brand and design. Simple as that. Buy a B&O product of any sort and you are purchasing a bit of electronic art. They are meant to last longer than a standard Sony or Samsung and the service you get from a B&O store is well above the standard at your local JB Hi-Fi.

Whether you think that warrants the price, well, that’s up to you. It looks sharp, we’ll say that much. There is no sign of an Australian launch yet so if you were keen on making your man cave look sharp with a new BeoPlay V1, you will have to wait a bit longer.
