Holden are stepping up a gear with the roll out of the new VF range of Commodores, this morning claiming a new “World Record” lap time around the world-famous Nürburgring.  Sure, it’s an unmeasured “commercial or utility” category, but regardless of these mere facts, the time was blistering!

If we turn to that internet resource of note – Wikipedia, we can see a long list of vehicles who’ve been thrashed around the circuit for press or manufacturer gloating purposes.  So just how does the VF Ute stack up?  The full video is below.

Holden took the SS V Redline version of the VF Ute over to Germany to see just what it could do. Holden Engineer Rob Trubiani took to the wheel and set a blistering time of  8m 19.47sec.

For comparison, that’s not going to beat any current day GTR, M3 or Koenigsegg.  But it’s certainly a respectable time for this Aussie workhorse – tradies around the country will be bragging about it as they drive out of their local dealer in their new VF I’m sure.
