If you thought the world of apps was diminishing, think again – Tim Cook has announced today that July was the biggest single month in the history of the App Store for developer payments.

The two tweets this morning are significant, because they demonstrate the continued interest in apps, and paying for apps, as well as Apple’s commitment to developers.

Developers get about 70% of the money we spend with Apple either on apps or in-apps, and it’s a huge windfall if you get the market right.

There’s no indication that Pokemon Go was behind the surge, but it would have certainly played a role.

What Apple don’t tell us is the breakdown between up-front purchases and in-app purchases, I’d put my house on the latter being the real growth category for Apple And developers as a whole.
