After another successful year in 2018, Alcatel Australia have set a bold path for 2019 to take new products to wider audiences though direct retail sales as well as their traditional telco partnerships.
We’re going to start seeing Alcatel devices in JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks and Australia post, as well as on Amazon.com.au as we’ve already seen with the Blackberry.
The Alcatel brand will feature three smartphones this year, the 1x and 1s as entry level devices with a step up in specs to the Alcatel 3.
Sam Skontos, the boss of Alcatel in Australia says “We continue to redefine what is possible in a sub-$300 device, with Australians more aware than ever before that it is possible to deliver exciting, innovative smartphones that don’t demand top dollar or compromise on performance. In 2018 we sold close to one million devices in Australia, and this year we’re taking it to another level with flagship-style features yet won’t break the bank,”

Alcatel 3 – $279
With an octa-core snapdragon processor for performance, and a 3500mAh battery this is a decent device for the price point.
Around the front it’s a full view screen with a tiny single camera notch up the top, with a dual rear 13MP and 5MP camera system featuring real-time bokeh.
Alcatel 1s – $199
With 32GB ROM and 3GB RAM and an Octa-Core processor the 1s is a decent specification at the sub $200 price point.
A 5.5 inch screen is HD+ and around the back is a dual camera 13 & 2MP camera system. And of course it has fingerprint unlock.
Alcatel 1x – $179
The 1x also has a 5.5 inch screen with an impressive 83% screen to body ratio.
A genuine stand out feature of the 1x is the depth of field sensor which allows to change the focal point of photos after they are taken. Not new in smartphone cameras, but very new at this price point.
Pricing and Availability:
- The Alcatel 1s will be available for $199 AUD via Amazon from July.
- The Alcatel 1x (2019) will be available for $179 AUD via Amazon and Officeworks from July.
- The Alcatel 3 will be available for $279 AUD via Amazon and Officeworks from July.
