If you’ve ever lost anything truly important and wished for an almost bulletproof way to track it, then the Telstra Locator Cat-M1 Tag is probably for you.

Announced last year, the locator is now available from Teltra for $190, but requires a $5 per month fee to use the Telstra LTE-M network – their low power wide area network.

The tracker uses a combination of the LTE-M network and Telstra’s Bluetooth Locator Community to keep tabs on the device and show its location in the Telstra Locator app, available for Android and iOS.

The app can set up a geo-fence and if the locator is moved outside of that location you’ll get a notification – and you can then of course track it.

The tracker carries an IP67 rating so it can be placed on anything, almost anywhere. As well as the LTE-M network and Bluetooth, the tracker includes GPS connectivity, and an accelerometer. There’s also a multi-colour status LED, and a 1000mAh rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery gives days-long battery life.

If this sounds like something you’d like to check out you can find it over on the Telstra website.
