Low cost, Low data allowance plans are normally the domain of the second tier mobile telcos, not the big three. However, we are in extraordinary times.
Vodafone has today announced it has introduced a temporary $10 per month “Stay Connected Cap Plan” for those customers experiencing financial difficulties during the COVID-19 crisis.
There would be many people who signed up to Vodafone, got a new phone, hit the $60 or $80 plan and are loving it.
But have lost their job, or their business is in hardship.
This $10 a month plan ensures they can stay connected with unlimited calls and texts, plus have 3GB of data to use.
Vodafone CEO Iñaki Berroeta hoped this would ease the pressure for those customers. “We recognise this is a very stressful time for many of our customers who have lost employment or income as a result of COVID-19, and we are a key part of their support network,”
“This plan will allow customers to stay connected to the people important to them and the services they need, without worrying about their phone bill.”
Vodafone, along with the other telcos have introduced a lot of initiatives including additional data during this time. All customers should reach out to their telcos if they are experiencing any hardship.
The Stay Connected Cap Plan is for existing customers, is valid for three months, and does not include any device repayments that may also be due.
