Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G - Speed comes to the foldables

Samsung is having a big night, back to back announcements aimed at the premium smartphone crowd, including the new Galaxy Z Flip 5G which brings the latest generation mobile technology to their compact foldable phone.

Launched earlier this year, the Galaxy Z Flip was a $2,199 flip phone, a long way from the cheap dumb flip-phones of old, this was an advanced folding glass screen which I loved.

But as Garry McGregor, Vice President, Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics Australia says – there’s something better “The Galaxy Z Flip pushed the boundaries of both smartphone design, form factor as well as physics. To date, it has been received very positively here in Australia and we’re delighted to have a 5G version now available. With the introduction of Galaxy Flip 5G, we offer 5G across our entire smartphone portfolio which is a testament to our continued commitment to providing superior network connectivity for all Samsung customers.

“Samsung is a pioneer in 5G enabled smartphones and 2020 is a great time for more mainstream users to adopt the technology given coverage has been growing exponentially this year. 5G is here and will be the backbone for what will power our country’s communications infrastructure into the next decade.

Samsung on 5G Demand in Australia

Speaking to EFTM about the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G, McGregor says that demand for 5G is strong in Australia – “We are further ahead with 5G and 5G smartphone sales than we ever were with 4G or 3G at the same time”

And he certainly doesn’t mind the challenge other brands bring to the category, saying “I think new entrants coming in with 5G products is only good, because it brings 5G mainstream”

No issue for Samsung, McGregor reinforcing their dominance in the market saying “We have a 5G enabled device in every Samsung mobile product category”

That includes 6 handsets and one tablet, covering the A series, S series, Note, Fold and Z series as well as the Tab S7.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G is essentially the same great device, form factor and dimensions, with a faster chipset and some great software tweaks to enhance the “Flip” experience.
