The PS5 is still hard to find, but Sony is making it easier to personalise the console for those who have one, announcing new official, coloured faceplates and new DualSense colour options coming in the next few months.
Sony will start by releasing the Midnight Black and Cosmic Red faceplates to match the already released controllers, next month. Sony will then follow up with Nova Pink, Starlight Blue and Galactic purple coloured faceplates and controllers – dubbed the ‘Galaxy Collection – ‘during the first half of 2022’.
Sony has confirmed that both the new faceplate colours and controllers will be available in Australia, and New Zealand alongside 20 other countries.
Pricing has been announced, but only in US Dollars, with the Faceplates set to cost $54.99 USD – around $77 AUD. Controllers should arrive at the same retail price as other DualSense controllers which sell for $119.95 RRP, but regularly drop lower.
The official PS5 faceplates look great and offer anyone wanting to customise their PS5an official option. Previously modders have had to navigate some fairly dodgy looking eBay sales, or have grabbed the very excellent DBrand Dark Plates, which were recently updated to a new 2.0 design after legal threats from Sony.
