If you’re a fan of large monitors, then the Samsung Odyssey Ark gaming screens are definitely on your radar and now they have the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming screen – and it’s coming to Australia.
While no pricing or arrival date has been set for the launch of this behemoth of a monitor, the good news is that Samsung Australia is taking registrations of interest over on their Australian site – with a note advising ‘Register your interest from 16 Aug – 25 Sept 2022 and be one of the first to receive news about our special pre-order offer‘.
So, what is it? First shown off at CES earlier this year, the Odyssey Ark is a huge 55-inch monitor that brings Samsung’s Quantum Matrix Technology to their gaming monitor range. The monitor will include Quantum Mini LEDs, for improved image quality using densely packed LEDs.
Spec wise, the Odyssey Ark 55-inch offers 3840×2160 resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate and 1ms GtG response time with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. While that 55-inch size may seem large, the gaming screen offers a 1000R Curve which brings a lot of the screen into your peripheral vision – and makes it’s footprint on your desk smaller.
While you can split the display into four screens – you can also have the monitor physically rotate into a vertical position – or Cockpit Mode – using the Ark Dial Controller included with the monitor, which will let you change the view to an equivalent 27-inch monitor, with three displays stacked on top of each other.
The Ark Dial can also change the aspect ratio on-screen between the native 16:9 aspect ratio to 21:9 or 32:9.
There’s also built-in 60W audio on-board, with four speakers and two woofers in a 2.2.2ch config that offer Dolby Atmos support.
