The Sony Walkman is an icon and there’s two new models heading our way with the NW-ZX707 and NW-A306 launching in Australia next month.

The Walkmans offer a more premium listening experience with high quality components designed for music lovers. Sony says they are built for ‘faithful sound reproduction’ with S-Master HX digital amp technology which has been independently developed for Walkman and is compatible with the native DSD format. This amp technology will apparently reduce distortion and noise across frequencies for ‘rich and full-bodied sound’ which is enhanced by using a gold infused, lead-free solder.

There’s support for a wide range of codecs and both use Edge-AI (Artificial Intelligence), and the Digital Sound Enhancement Engine to upscale compressed digital music files in real time.

The two models offer two sizes of display with the NW-ZX707 including a 5.0-inch display, while the NW-A306 has a 3.6-inch display and have both been designed with a premium aluminium frame.

The two models will run Android 12 with the option of local or streaming playback with the NW-ZX707 including 64GB of on-board storage, while the NW-A306 will include 32GB of storage, though both include microSD card slots to expand.’

There’s a large battery on both, with the NW-ZX707 has offering up to 25 hours of 44.1kHz FLAC playback, while the NW-A306 can playback up to 36 hours of 44.1kHz FLAC playback.

The NW-ZX707 and NW-A306 will be available in Australia from late next month with the NW-ZX707 priced at $999 AUD, while the NW-A306 will cost $499 AUD and is available in Black only.
