If you think you’ve seen a lot of big American “utes” on the roads lately – get used it it, those “trucks” as the American’s call them are coming down under in a bigger way with Ford Australia today opening the order books for the much anticipated Right-Hand drive Ford F-150.

The big unit will hit Aussie showrooms later this year, with a price of $106,950 plus on-roads with two variants and two body styles in each variant.

The XLT is the “base” model, while the “LARIAT” adds the trimmings, while both come in short or long wheel base options.

“The F-150 is perfect for those who want to explore our amazing country in luxury and comfort. The addition of this icon to our local showrooms alongside the incredibly popular Ranger means Australian customers now have two uncompromising utes to choose from. Thanks to its 4.5 tonne towing ability, the F-150 ensures Aussies can go anywhere, with almost anything, at any time,” said Andrew Birkic, President and CEO, Ford Australia.

Ford had to jump into this market, currently dominated by locally converted RAM trucks, and in a small part the Chevy Silverado.

Given the popularity of the Ford Ranger series, we’re confident Ford is onto a winner with the F-150.

The engineering and local conversion work has been undertaken by Ford Australia and their local partner RMA Automotive with testing ongoing here in Australia.
