If you ordered a Ford F-150 – the first batch have arrived in Australia!

In the still of night in Port Phillip Bay a huge car carrier docked and began the final steps for the conversion and delivery of the very first Ford F-150 orders in Australia.

Around 100 vehicles travelled the 15,000km’s from Baltimore to Melbourne as the first F-150 customer cars in Australia since the brand announced the model’s return to Australia.

Though, it’s not quite as smooth a journey from dock to dealer as for those of us waiting for cars to come off a boat.

For these Ford buyers, the 100 F-150’s need to be taken to the RMA facility in Mickleham where they will be re-engineered – or technically re-manufactured as right-hand-drive models before being shipped to dealerships across Australia.

Ford Australia President and CEO Andrew Birkic says “The F-150 is perfect for those who want to explore our amazing country in luxury and comfort. The addition of this icon to our local showrooms alongside the incredibly popular Ranger means Australian customers now have two uncompromising utes to choose from. Thanks to its 4.5 tonne towing ability, the F-150 ensures Aussies can go anywhere, with almost anything, at any time,”

“As an iconic full-size American pick-up, the F-150 is joining Australian showrooms thanks to an extensive and meticulous local re-engineering program. Together with RMA Automotive, Ford Australia earned the privilege of developing a world-first right-hand drive program for the F-150. We set ourselves the target of equivalency without compromise and are incredibly proud to have achieved this to our exacting standards, while offering our customers compelling value and generous standard specification,”

Now the wait continues:)
