Yep, this happened. It’s not AI, It’s not a deepfake. This is Elon Musk, telling some of the biggest companies in the world to quite simply – “go fuck yourself”

Now, I’ve always, and consistently said two things about Elon. One, he’s a genius of our time. Two, he’s a loose canon who shouldn’t be the public face of any company.

Today, he proved it – at a New York Times event, he told Andrew Ross Sorkin that he hoped advertisers would stop advertising.

In his own words “I hope they stop. Don’t advertise,” Musk said.

He went on, saying “If somebody is going to try to blackmail me with advertising, blackmail me with money, go fuck yourself. Go fuck yourself. Is that clear? I hope it is.”

Like a stand-up comedian bombing on stage, he looks around the room, and then smiles singling out the CEO of Disney (Bob Iger) saying “Hey Bob, if you’re in the audience.”

Perhaps more alarming for the staff at Twitter (now X), Elon went one step further saying that an adverting boycott could have far greater effect “what this advertising boycott is gonna do is it’s gonna kill the company.”

And as is often the case, he considers the view of his followers to be that of the rest of the world, or as he likes to say “Earth” – Elon said “That is what everybody on Earth will know,”

“We’ll be gone, and it’ll be gone because of an advertiser boycott.”

According to the New York Times, Elon’s company could risk losing $75 million by the end of this year after over 100 brands paused any advertising activity on his Social Media platform.

Twitter is dead, It cannot survive with this erratic leadership, all that remains there are Elon fans, believers if you want – and Media who struggle to find an alternative for the real-time breaking news.
