Today at CES 2024 Google has announced updates that will allow you to connect all your smart devices more easily.

Google has had their own way to share files between smart devices called Nearby Share. Samsung on the other hand has also had their own protocol called Quick Share and now Google has teamed up with Samsung to bring the “best of our sharing solutions together into a singular cross-Android solution under the Quick Share name.”

This new integration of the new protocol will create the best default, built-in content sharing option between all devices in the Android and Chromebook ecosystems. Google has also announced that they are working with leading PC manufacturers such as LG to bring Quick Share to Windows PCs as a pre-installed app.

Privacy will still be paramount with you still being in full control of whether you can send or receive files and who from. Quick Share will be rolling out to devices which already have Nearby Share enabled next month.

On top of the Quick Share announcement, Google has also announced that they are expanding Fast Pair to Chromecast with Google TV next month and to more Google TV devices later this year.

Also, for users of big screens, Google has announced that from today you can now cast TikTok content from your phone to your Chromecast built-in devices. TikTok isn’t alone here though with Google also announcing that later this year you will be able to move what’s playing on Spotify and YouTube Music on your compatible Pixel smartphone to your docked Pixel tablet when the device is nearby.

Keep an eye out for the new updates coming to your phone.
