Finding a fun experience while on a holiday is even easier, with AirBNB announcing Icons, a new category of experience, which can be hosted by the greatest names in music, film, television, art, sports, and more.

The AirBNB Icons experience expands on the existing experiences which have included staying in Shrek’s Swamp, Barbie’s Dreamhouse or even the Home Alone house, adding in 11 new experiences, with more set to be announced through the year.

Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO said 

“Icons take you inside worlds that only existed in your imagination—until now. As life becomes increasingly digital, we’re focused on bringing more magic into the real world. With Icons, we’ve created the most extraordinary experiences on Earth.”

The new AirBNB Icons now include options to visit Pixar headquarters for an overnight stay and check out the control room as a tie-in for the upcoming Inside Out 2 film, or even check out the house from the Pixar film, Up – yes, it floats courtesy of a crane. Both experiences have been dressed to look just like the films, for a unique experience. 

If a Pixar inspired stay doesn’t get you excited, there’s other experiences available including a night in the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy, a trip to the never-before-seen family home of Bollywood star Janhvi Kapoor in Chennai, India. You could also try a night in Prince’s Purple Rain house, or a night in the 2D recreation of the X-Mansion from the newly released series X-Men ‘97. 

If you’re interested in rubbing shoulders with some well known stars, you can try a night of Fortnite with TikTok star Khaby Lame, or see how good your singing can be with a living room session with Rapper and Singer, Doja Cat – or join Colombian singer Feid on his FERXXOCALIPSIS World Tour for an entire week or or a VIP evening with Kevin Hart inside of members-only Coramino Live Lounge. 

For the sporty, you could also wake up in the Musée d’Orsay Museum in Paris and witness the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympics along the River Seine.

You can find all the new AirBNB Icons available on the homepage, with most of the Icons listed as free – or priced under USD $100 per guest, with a countdown timer showing how long until each Icon goes live and guests can then request a booking. 4,000 tickets will be issued in 2024, with bookings accepted through the app as well as the site.

AirBNB have also announced they’re making it easier to plan group trips, with shared wishlists and trip invitations available for co-travellers in a completely redesigned messaging experience. 

Hosts will also be seeing some benefits, with enhancements announced based on their feedback, including a new earnings dashboard and updates to the Listings tab launched in November for even more control, and an easier way to switch between the guest and Host sides of the app.

Its a new fun addition to the AirBNB experience, and whilst the experiences all currently involve international travel – hopefully we’ll see an Austrlian Icon experience announced soon.
