It’s an AI powered world these days, and Samsung has announced they’re bringing Samsung Vision AI to their range, as well as launching the new Neo QLED 8K QN990F, their most advanced TV to date.
Samsung has been offering their intuitive AI experiences through their phones, and is now expanding their AI offerings to more screens. At CES, Samsung is launching Samsung Vision AI, bringing their intelligent, intuitive, and seamless screen experiences to their Neo QLED, OLED and QLED models.
This latest implementation of AI has been thoughtfully integrated into their TV experience offering personalised features which will change how you view your media, and interact with your screens.
Samsung Vision AI will offer some really neat features like Click to Search, which will let you find out instant information about what’s on-screen, including which actors, without interrupting the show.
If you’re a fan of watching media from other countries, the new Live Translate feature will be just for you. Powered by on-device AI, the Live Translate function gives you real-time translations, letting you enjoy that content instantly.
If you’ve been playing with Galaxy AI on their phones, one of the more fun features is the generative AI Wallpapers – letting you create images from text prompts and use them as your wallpaper. Samsung is bringing this to their TVs, letting you make images that perfectly match your taste or an occasion.
You’ll also see Samsung Vision AI able to deliver improvements in picture and sound quality. Samsung says that on-device AI picture and sound technologies will be able to analyse content and environmental factors in real time, then dynamically adjusting visuals and audio for an optimised experience.
For Smart Home owners, Samsung Vision AI will also see the TV integrated more as a home hub with integration to the SmartThings ecosystem.
This means you’ll see Home Insights, based on real-time analysis of your household environment, offering a way to keep an eye on pets and family, including using sensors to dim the lights when your child falls asleep.
While a lot of the Galaxy AI features have been driven by Google, the Samsung Vision AI will see collaborations with AI partners including Microsoft, Google and more.
The Microsoft partnership includes access to Microsoft Copilot, which will include a number of features including personalised content recommendations.
While Samsung is bringing Vision AI to most of their TVs, the flagship of the Visio AI range is the Neo QLED 8K QN990F, Samsung’s most advanced TV to date.
Offering unparalleled performance and a sleek ultra-slim, minimalist design, the Neo QLED 8K QN990F is powered by the NQ8 QI Gen3 processor, and features a suite of on-device AI features to improve the viewing experience.
The Neo QLED 8K QN990F will include 8K AI upscaling pro to bring those low-resolution videos up to a more eye-pleasing resolution, and you’ll also get Auto HDR remastering, with the TV able to analyse each frame and apply scene-adaptive colour enhancements on the fly, offering brighter and more colour rich visuals, even in the darkest scenes.
Samsung says the Neo QLED 8K QN990F can improve audio, with an AI powered adaptive sound which can ‘separate and optimise sound components like speech, music, and sound effects, delivering clear, balanced audio’ – brilliant!
The TV can also automatically optimise picture and sound, analysing the TV area and recognising AI-based content to deliver an optimal viewing experience.
The Neo QLED 8K QN990F will be coming to Australia in the first half of 2025. Pricing is yet to be announced.
For CES, Samsung has also expanded their lifestyle focused ‘Frame’ series with the Frame Pro, as well as announcing the Samsung Art Store will be available on their Neo QLED and QLED models.
As a Frame owner, I love the art on the Samsung Art Store, and now more people can get access to it with Samsung announcing in 2025, it will be coming to Neo QLED and QLED models.
The Samsung Art Store is a fun place to browse, featuring over 3,000 curated works from prestigious global partners, including MoMA and the estates of Magritte and Basquiat.
It’s a new fun feature for Neo QLED and QLED owners, letting them transform their screens into personalised art galleries.
Also able to access the Samsung Art Store is the new Frame Pro. The Frame Pro will add to the iconic Frame lineup, with the new model using Neo QLED technology to deliver brighter colours, sharper contrasts and improved local dimming for deeper blacks.
The Frame Pro is powered by the same NQ4 Gen3 AI Processor, and will include the Samsung Wireless One Connect box, which Samsung says allows for more ‘flexible installations that blend in seamlessly with their environment’.
The Frame Pro will be coming to Australia in the first half of 2025. Pricing is yet to be announced.
Samsung has also announced a new ultra-short-throw (UST) projector at CES, with the Premiere 5 set to launch in Australia this year.
The Premiere 5 includes a heap of versatile features and functions designed to help you set up and watch your content easily.
Features include an interactive touch feature, letting you interact directly with the screen, as well as Samsung LightWARP, which lets you project images onto everyday objects for creative and immersive experiences.
The Premiere 5 will be coming to Australia in 2025. Pricing is yet to be announced.
