Kayo jacks up price again, now $40 per month for 4K and two streams!

It wouldn’t be a New Year without a Kayo Price rise would it? The company seems hell bent on ripping Aussies for every cent of their Sports passion with the third price rise in three years.

In 2023 Kayo “Basic” went from $27.50 to $30, a year later when they added 4K that price went to $35 while at the same time dropping the three simultaneous stream option, and now, as of March 4 the “Basic” plan becomes known as “Premium” and you’re up for $40 per month!

The entry level plan, known as Kayo One will be rebranded as Kayo Standard and stays at $25 with just one stream at a time, important so that Kayo can claim their price has not risen since it first launched in late 2018 – and for those people living alone, not sharing the account with their kids and without a big-screen TV, you have to say that the entry level Kayo Standard is still utterly great value! But given we’re now paying $15 a month extra for a second stream and no possibility of a third it seems a huge leap in price for the average Aussie family.

Sports rights are the cornerstone of Broadcast TV in 2025, so this price rise is all about covering those costs and building the Foxtel/Hubble coffers for a huge bidding war that is about to come as the NRL puts itself out there for 2027 and beyond – looking for Billions in revenue, and opening the possibility of Paramount+, Netflix or Amazon to take part in this rights war.

With every price rise comes a decision for families to make – what stays, and what goes? $40 a month is a lot!
