Reolink brings subscription-free local AI Video search with the Elite Floodlight WiFi Camera

Reolink have announced their latest advance in wireless home security, with the launch of the Reolink Elite Floodlight WiFi camera, with the added bonus of locally processed AI search.

The Elite Floodlight camera includes a dual-lens 8MP setup and dual-image stitching technology to capture footage in 4K UHD resolution with an expansive 180° field of view and comes with a floodlight, and siren built-in.

Footage can be stored locally on a microSD card in the camera, as well as on the Reolink NVR or Home Hub serries, as well as your local server if you have one. The camera itself includes dual-band Wifi 6 connectivity, as well as coming with an IP66 rating making it weatherproof.

The local AI model, which Reolink calls ReoNeura, runs entirely on device for privacy and also has no ongoing subscription fees which we’ve seen from other smart camera makers including Ring. The AI search feature brings the ability for users to search the footage and deliver instant results using simple, descriptive phrases like  “man in a white hoodie” or “black pickup truck”, saving you from scrolling through hours of playback to find an event.

Reolink says the AI can also power motion detection, letting it distinguish between people, vehicles, and animals to reduce false positives, with options to set virtual fences and zones to further limit those false alarms. Any events identified are passed along with real-time app alerts, as well as triggering customisable events such as setting off the siren, or playing a message.

The built-in floodlight, offers adaptive options such as the option to set the warmth of the light, as well as the option to scale brightness up to 3,000 lumens. You can also use one of their three smart lighting modes: Tailor Your Lighting offering control of manual brightness and timing, Dusk-to-Dawn which uses the light sensor to judge ambient light for automation, and Motion-Triggered which will activate lights, along with the siren (up to 105dB), if enabled, when people, vehicles, or animals are detected.

For smart home lovers, the Reolink Elite Floodlight Wifi can also be added to your Google Home, with the option to see what’s happening on your Google Nest Hub or Chromecast-enabled TVs.

The Reolink Elite Floodlight WiFi camera is available now through Reolink.com and Amazon, with a retail price starting from 9.99.
