Just three months after launching their innovative triple-display Galaxy Z Trifold, Samsung has confirmed they are discontinuing the phone.

According to a report from Bloomberg, Samsung has discontinued the Galaxy Z TriFold already in their home market of Korea, with plans to discontinue the phone in other markets. The phone was also launched in China, Taiwan, Singapore and the UAE according to Samsung, who never confirmed the phone would launch here in Australia. 

In an interview with Business Korea following the launch, it appears Samsung was testing the waters with the Galaxy Z Trifold, citing only a 20,000 – 30,000 unit run for the initial manufacturing run – a relatively low number considering Samsung took in 1.35million pre-orders for the Galaxy S26 series in the 7-days after the launch.

At $2,899 USD, the Galaxy Z TriFold wasn’t a budget friendly foldable option, including a large 6.5 cover display, which folded out into a 10” display across three panels which Samsung said at launch had ‘minimised creasing’. 

Samsung also added in usability features for the Galaxy Z Trifold, with the ability to run three side-by-side portrait apps alongside each other, or resize the apps across all three panels, however those features will be absorbed by the dual-pane Galaxy Z Fold line.

So it looks like we’ll never see the Galaxy Z Trifold here in Australia, but maybe another company will take up the option.
