We first saw the Lenovo Smart Display at CES this year and at the time we called it “Google Home with a display”, however with the Google Home Hub being announced – it’ll be interesting to see how this stacks up.

The main difference between the Lenovo Smart Display and Home Hub is the size. Home Hub is shipping at 7″, which is a nice size but personally I’d prefer something a bit bigger. With a lot of large phones these days over 6″ screen size, the Home Hub isn’t THAT much bigger. The Smart Display comes in two sizes, 8″ and 10″ – retailing for $299 and $399 respectively.

The Lenovo Smart Display is rocking Google Assist features such as;

  • Routines – “Hey Google, what’s on today”
  • Smart Home Control
  • Video playback (YouTube)
  • Digital Picture Frame
  • Visual Search Result Representation (E.g. Recipes)
  • Video calling

As you can see the 10-inch model has a real nice wooden back to it, giving it a modern feel and aesthetic – while the 8-inch sports a more corporate, rubber look.

Both models are available for online via Lenovo.com.au and in-store at Harvey Norman, JB-Hi-Fi and Officeworks. Once we get our hands on some demo models we’ll be sure to keep you updated as to value for money!
