Chinese tech goliath Xiaomi have today announced the successor to the original Black Shark, aptly named the Black Shark 2. This thing looks MEAN to say the least.
It comes in Shadow Black and Frozen Silver. Typically when talking about phones and other consumer electronics you’d start with the technical specifications or the practical uses for the device but come on… It’s stunning.
We’ve shown you the Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2 here at EFTM, devices that target the gaming minority of the population. Or at least the minority that are willing to be actively associated with being gamers. And I’ve got to say it’s nice to see products of a similar nature – unafraid to be nerdy and way over the top.
The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 is spec’d out with a Snapdragon 855, either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and a 4000mAh battery. It weighs in at 205g which is a little heavier than most phones, but it’s a whole lot more powerful too.
The display is a big 6.39-inch AMOLED with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio (1080×2340 resolution).
Similarly to the Razer Phone, Xiaomi are boasting that the Black Shark 2 has a super loud and crisp speaker setup. While I can’t verify that just yet, if it’s anything like Razer’s, it’ll be phenomenal.
Honorable mentions to some of it’s features such as;
- ‘4D gaming’ through smart vibration during gameplay.
- Cooling case that boasts up to 10-degrees cooler in 10 seconds.
- In-game recording for easy clip sharing.
- RGB-LED lights all around the phone that can be customized.
The biggest battle for the Black Shark 2 will be that it’s a Xiaomi product. In 2019, Chinese tech is being HEAVILY criticized with the likes of Huawei under serious scrutiny by western governments.
