So you’re doing it all for likes are you? You crave the count? No more! Well, not as easily anyway.
From today, Instagram is expanding its trial of a hidden like count on posts in an effort to get users to focus more on their content and not the craving for likes.
Mia Garlick from Facebook Australia says “We want Instagram to be a place where people feel comfortable expressing themselves. We hope this test will remove the pressure of how many likes a post will receive, so you can focus on sharing the things you love. We are now rolling the test out to Australia so we can learn more about how this can benefit people’s experiences on Instagram, and whether this change can help people focus less on likes and more on telling their story.”
Won’t make a difference of course, but noble of them nonetheless.
The trail has been underway for some time in Canada and Australia is next in line for the social media upheaval.
Here’s how it looks in the standard “feed”:
So your fans won’t see the total like count for your post.
As the account owner, all you need to do is click on that “others” word and you will see the like count appear:
So look – no need to panic if you’re a Kardashian or Insta Influencer, you can still report your total likes to those paying clients.
But, you won’t be able to brag without bragging – you’ll actually need to tell people how many likes you are getting – instead of them being able to browse your feed to see it.
