Which TV to buy is often a difficult one to answer, because the factors playing into the decision for each person are different. But Canstar has once again surveyed Aussie buyers with the view to finding out which is the best TV.

Over 1,200 people who has bought a TV in the last two years were surveyed, and asked about a huge range of things from picture quality to ease of use and value for money.

Overall, Samsung and Sony top the charts with a FIVE star overall rating.

Both brands were the only ones to get five stars on picture quality, and design. While Samsung scored five stars on Smart compatibility and Sony five for sound.

Six other brands scored four stars overall, showing that we do have an ultra competitive market for TVs in this country no doubt, and those four star brands included Kogan and Aldi’s Bauhn.

In the case of Bauhn, it was the ONLY brand to earn five stars for value for money, and also the only to score so well on ease of use this year.

Bauhn was let down only by sound quality and smart compatibility, which is spot on because I’ve often said if you want great value, get a Bauhn then add a Soundbar and Chromecast with Google TV or Fetch. Problem solved.

Overall, it’s a glowing endorsement of Sony’s return to the TV charts with their TVs in the last two years really outshining the previous few years. Their Google TV strategy will pay off in the long run, while Samsung’s continued improvement to the user interface and design is paying big dividends for them.
