Father’s Day is this coming Sunday, and that means panic for many families wondering what on earth to get Dad. So, as blokes and Dads, we’ve got you covered.

Look, it has to be said, you do realise that Dad probably doesn’t want for a gift from the wife or kids. Many will settle for a home made brekky, a family brekky at the cafe, or a sleep in. One or two of those could be the absolute ideal..

Leaving that aside, we understand you want to find something great for Dad.

Here’s a bunch of ideas to get you thinking.

Headphones

Dad either loves music, podcasts or the radio, no matter what he loves to listen to, there’s headphones to suit.

We’d recommend checking out the Sony WH-1000XM5’s, they are the top of the tree at $549. For over-ears a bit cheaper look at JBL’s Tour One’s at $299 and for what we think are the best value true wireless in-ear headphones give the all-new JBL Live Pro 2’s a go at $199.

Smart Speakers

If he’s not already doing smart home stuff, get him a smart speaker. If he’s already got one, get him another. You can have one in every room frankly, so no reason not to invest in one – and the basic speakers are under $50!

Google Nest is at Officeworks for $47, while an Amazon Echo Dot is $42.

Gadgets as Art

I’ve written before about the awesome Grid Studio exploded gadget artworks. They are great. But ordering from China means big time-frame leads.

However there’s an Aussie distributor of a similar – frankly identical product.

Xreart is available at TheUsual and start just over $200. Pick from older model iPhones or GameBoys.

Smartwatch

If Dad doesn’t have a smartwatch – why not?

You can get Apple Watches from $429, and the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 is $499.

I reckon the pick is the Withings Horizon – this one is a classic analogue watch with a bunch of the highest tech features.

And of course, if things are going very well, think about the TAG Connected E4.

Gift Cards

Now plenty will say a gift-card is a cop out, but actually it can show far more thought than ever.

For example a Kayo Sports voucher, or Stan voucher for a lover of TV and Sport?

If Dad loves magazines, consider a Readly subscription – Magazines as you want them just like Netflix, but for Mags!

A Bunnings voucher for the wanna be or legendary DIY Dad!

And if you haven’t seen it already, check out Special.com.au – a place to get a gift-card online that’s delivered digitally and stored in the Apple Wallet. Get him the “Pub Crawler” or the “Tech Head” to show him how much you love him.

Virtual Reality

As much a gift for the kids as it is for Dad, the META Quest is a cracking VR headset. 100% wireless, no PC required, this is an all-in-one ready out of the box VR gaming and entertainment headsets.

Dad will LOVE it.

Home Security

And while Home Security might seem the same as getting Mum an Iron for Mother’s Day, it’s great for the nerdy wanna be tech-head dad. He can setup the cameras, install them and feel like he’s the top dog in the house by keeping an eye on things at all time.

Arlo also has a bunch of great discounts going just for Father’s Day – so what a great time to buy one!
