The launch of the Galaxy S24 showed off a range of new AI powered features, and today Samsung have announced they will be coming to a range of Galaxy devices from April in Australia through the One UI 6.1 update.

The One UI 6.1 will arrive on Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5 and Tab S9 series. The update is set to adopt a hybrid approach, with some features powered on device, while others will require an internet connection.

The update will include a suite of AI Tools, including the Circle to Search feature which launched on the Galaxy S24 and expanded to Pixel phones last month, as well as Chat Assist, which will offer suggestions in messaging apps.

Travel will be improved with Live Assist offering voice and text translations for phone calls, while the Interpreter feature, will let you have a conversation in person with a split-screen translator showing the conversation.

There’s also productivity improvements including Note Assist which will summarise, translate and format notes, Browsing Assist which can summarise websites and a Transcript Assist which can transcribe meeting recordings and then generate a summary or translate them.

On the creative side, the One UI 6.1 will include features in the Gallery for photo editing, including options to resize, reposition, or realign objects in photos, with edit suggestions popping up to allow for faster edits. You can also get slow-mo with AI able to generate frames to insert into your videos to capture action-packed moments.

Lastly you’ll be able to generate your own wallpapers using AI, bringing a new level of creativity and customisation to your phone.

The One UI 6.1 update is set to roll out from April, so keep your eye out for the update notification.
