If you bought a new TV in the past 18 months, chances are it probably had some form of 3D function built in. The problem has been finding 3D content to watch on it. Fortunately, those family-friendly folks at Disney have decided to start pumping out the 3D back-catalogue.
Led by the Pixar adventure Cars 2, Disney has already released 13 films on 3D Blu-ray. Tangled, Gnomeo and Juliet, Tron Legacy, Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides, The Lion King, Bolt, A Christmas Carol, Alice in Wonderland, Chicken Little, G-Force, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Meet the Robinsons are all available now to buy in 3D.
But more interesting for Dads and Disney-fans alike is the upcoming launch of all three Toy Story films in 3D, alongside classic Beauty and the Beast, on November 30.
Disney is committed to bringing even more back catalogue titles to 3D over the next few months, although they’re rather tight-lipped on exactly which titles will require the special glasses, although they were adamant that only live-action films shot in 3D would be released in 3D by the studio. But my bet’s on the Pixar and classic animated stuff – especially whatever key film is due to be released from the vault next year.
