Like the movies themselves, Star Wars Lego is a bit hit and miss. There’s either the epic masterpiece constructions from the original trilogy, or the wish-wash of smaller, less iconic vehicles from the prequels. Then there’s this awesome R2-D2.

Launching in May, the new R2-D2 construction features a completely retractable third leg, allowing you to decide whether you want a static droid or a droid in motion on your mantle. Its head spins around 360 degrees, while small front flaps on R2’s chest conceal the iconic key (capable of saving you from a trash compactor) and the saw (for cutting you out of Ewok traps).

Not sure about Australian pricing yet, but the new R2-D2 unit is expected to cost around $US250.
