Its 4.2 metres tall, 5 metres wide, weighs 3,500kg has a top speed of 30km/h. But what is it? Well if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes and someone told me about it I’d think they had a drug problem. It’s called “Prosthesis” – a racing robot coming to a stadium near you.
A human controls the mammoth exo-bionic contraption by climbing in and strapping themselves into the control harness. Arms and legs are used to make the entire battery powered machine literally walk along all kinds of landscape, it’s so big and powerful it can jump cars.
The human piloted machine runs off electro-hydraulics with direct haptic feedback. The suspension has 50cm of travel and custom engineered air and coil over shocks.
So what on earth can this machine be used for, Furrion believe this is the future of “Mech Racing”. They envision a stadium full of obstacles, challenges and head to head clashes. Whatever the case this was one of the more amazing exhibits here at CES.
