After launching in the US last year, Google has today announced their expanding access to their ‘Play Pass’ subscription service for apps and games to Australia this week.

The service will cost AUD $7.99/month or there is now a yearly subscription for just AUD $49.99/year, but there will be a free one month trial for you to start off with when it goes live later this week. Australia is just one of nine countries that Play Pass is expanding to this week, with Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, the UK and New Zealand also getting access.

Play Pass is similar to Apple Arcade, though without the exclusives that Apple has managed to sew up in that deal. Play Pass gives you access ‘to hundreds of apps and games that are completely unlocked—all without ads, in-app purchases and upfront payments‘ says Google.

There’s a heap of well known titles available as part of Play Pass, including Terraria, Monument Valley, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, LIMBO, This War of Mine and Teslagrad, with more titles being added, including The Gardens Between and Kingdom Rush coming soon.

The service will go live in Google Play this week says Google, to access it you’ll see a ‘Play Pass’ option in the Play Store app, tap that and you’ll start your trial.
