As supply constraints have eased and access to new Xbox consoles has gotten easier, Micreosoft have announced a new Xbox Series S console is launching soon in a new colour and with more storage.

The new ‘Carbon Black’ coloured Xbox Series S will come with double the storage of the white Xbox Series S with 1TB on-board. There’s no performance differences between the original white XBox Series S and this new black model except for the increased default storage. You can still add more storage to either Xbox Series S using the Seagate expansion cards, or the newly announced WD Game drives.

The console will launch on September 1st for $349 USD ($517 AUD),and is available to pre-order in the US on the Microsoft Store though we haven’t seen it on the Australian site and no local pricing or availability announced yet.

The console was announced by Phil Spencer during the Xbox Games Showcase this morning which also saw the announcement of a slew of games including Avowed, Clockwork Revolution and South of Midnight, as well as a more detailed look at the upcoming Bethesda game Starfield.

There’s no sign of the new Carbon Black Xbox Series S at local retailers yet, but you can pre-order the Starifield special edition with a neat looking case and watch for $500! As soon as we get some info on local pricing and availability we’ll update. Now, can we get a white Xbox Series X with 2TB of storage?
