If there’s one well-know fact about marketing a product, your best salespeople are the people using the product. Word of mouth sells product, and in this case it seems Spotify is hoping to use that strategy to drive user growth among the student community.

They’ve launched a cracking good introductory deal for starters, three months Spotify for just $99c and the student price of $5.99 each month after that.

Add to that a referral program which offers credits to the student users for any referral to new sign-ups. Those credits can be used in the “Student Premium Store” for anything from tote bags to NRL Grand Final tickets.

Of course, targeted at the Students there’s a bunch of festival tickets too, and if you want money can’t buy – there’s even the chance to spend the day at Spotify Australia’s HQ in Sydney. Go figure.

The Premium Store is available until the end of October.
