Google says their Play Pass app subscription service will launch ‘soon’

Google has been testing an all you can eat game and app subscription service for a while, but no details on when we’ll see it have been forthcoming. That changed yesterday when they announced the service would be ‘coming soon’.

Google Play Pass service, which leaked in late July. will offer Android users access to apps and games with no advertising or in-app purchases for $4.99 USD per month.

Google Play Pass will reportedly feature top tier games including Stardew Valley, Monument Valley, Threes, Marvel Pinball and more when it launches.

When will it launch? Well, Google has just begun teasing Play Pass on social media and says soon.

The Play Pass service is expected to compete with the similarly priced Apple Arcade game subscription service which will go live on September 19th,

The launch of Play Pass is likely going to be tied into the Made by Google event which is expected in early October. How much it will cost here in Australia if it launches here is open to speculation, but a $7.99 AUD cost – equivalent to Apple Arcade in AU – could be about right, but we’ll have to wait and see.
