The table-top adventure game that’s unquestionably led the charge as both the most innovative and nerdy game in all of mankind, Dungeons & Dragons is getting a freshen up in the form of an RPG video game! The trailer brings on some serious nostalgia and visualizes the stories that some of us geeks have spent years imagining;

Now Dark Alliance isn’t the first D&D video game, but there hasn’t been one for quite some time. Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance was published in 2001 and fit the same genre of “action roleplay/hack slash” that this title will fill.

As you can imagine there have been some significant updates to gaming technology in the last 19 years, notably graphically.

Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance from 2001

The title is being co-developed with Turque Games. Their VP of Digital Development, Jeff Hattem has said that “We’re taking players on an epic journey through the harsh and violent, Icewind Dale, where they’re going to need to use their wits, their weapons and their party members to help them survive the iconic monsters we’re going to send their way.”

Which is the exact type of experience the D&D fan base are searching for in a video game.

We’re being told by the developers ‘Wizards Of The Coast’ that Dark Alliance will feature couch or online co-op for up to four people, as they explore the icy tundra of Icewind Dale.

At this stage, release is planned for the second half of 2020, however all of the latest will be available online at darkalliance.com
