A brushcutter is a once-in-a-decade kind of purchase, but the latest model from Husqvarna looks to offer some simple improvements to make it a worthwhile contender.

As anyone who’s ever spent any serious time mowing lawns will tell you, mucking around trying to get your edger started is a big no-no. The 135R brushcutter has the standard air-purge to deliver fuel to the two-stroke engine’s carburettor before starting, plus an intelligent off switch that automatically returns to the on position so you don’t have to worry about it the next time you start.

Husqvarna claims the engine itself produces up to 75% less emissions and a fuel saving of up to 20% compared to similar products, while a double harness and adjustable arms make the 135R ergonomic to use. Weighing in at 6.8kg, that harness will be a welcome addition to anyone with a big yard.A tap and go trimmer head also saves time while trimming.

For $449, there are certainly cheaper options on the market, but for the convenient additions an easy start motor and auto-return off switch, it looks like a good addition to the tool shed.
