There aren’t many worse feelings that our body can generate than nausea. Whether it’s motion sickness, sea sickness or otherwise anxiety or medication induced – nausea is the worst. Which is why Reliefband peaked my interest – it’s a wrist band that claims to nearly immediately rid your nausea!

Now my first words to this proposal were quite seriously “I don’t believe you”, but alas I’ve been proven a skeptic. The Reliefband has been on the market since 2015 and seems to be doing well. The exciting news is that the FDA has approved the product for much more than it was originally intended to assist with.

The Reliefband was designed to address motion sickness, morning sickness, chemotherapy, and post-operative nausea – however new FDA approvals have also cleared it for nausea caused by migraines, anxiety and hangovers!

It works using ‘neuro-modulation’. Now if like me you don’t have a biology degree – rather simply it sends gentle pulses through your wrist that “block” feelings of nausea. I’ll let the video do the talking;

Through some miracle of science, the band can be worn all the time without any side effects. As someone that gets the occasional bout of anxiety induced nausea, having the safety net that is the Reliefband would be a godsend when dealing with high stress situations.

The other interesting use for the band is virtual reality. One of the biggest complaints from users new to virtual is that it’s an awfully nauseating experience. You’re moving through a vast world or on a high speed rollercoaster, all while being completely still on the couch. It’s still a very new experience to us and our bodies don’t know how to deal with the situation.

Until now, they’ve had two models – the Reliefband Classic and Reliefband Premier. CES 2020 has seen the inclusion of the Reliefband Travel and Reliefband Sport.

The Travel is a cheaper, limited use model that you’d buy and use for the extent of your travel and simply throw away at the end. There are models to last 48 hours, 72 hours or 7 days. It’s the perfect product for a cruise, flight or general travel related anxiety.

The Sport is a waterproof variant with a slightly bigger, rechargeable battery. It has six different intensity levels to accommodate however you may be feeling. The band, case and housing are all completely customizable as far as colour is concerned.

Reliefband currently only ship inside the US, but will be expanding to international in the coming months. Keep an eye on their products on their website.
