As a 13 year old in high school, there are a few things in a phone that every kid wants. Most of the kids in my year want to make sure they have a Snapstreaks or making sure they have great pictures for Instagram.
Now you also want to make sure they are texting their friends during the lockdown. So a good phone is crucial in making sure this is possible, and you can get one with a cheap price tag!
Huawei Nova 3i
Huawei Nova 3i is a very nice phone with a pretty decent camera and can use Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok etc all very smoothly. The battery lasts for at least 7-8 hours so that should get them through the school day.
The photos can be taken easily and are stunning for the price of this phone. The Huawei Nova 3i can be found for $299 brand new.

Samsung A30
Samsung A30 is the current phone I am using and is very good for its pricing. It takes solid photos and can run very nice. Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok etc all run exceptionally.
The battery last about 8-10 hours with a bit of usage but with little less could probably go 11 hours. Which is enough for them to go to the shops after school and hang out with friends (after the lockdown is over).
The price of this phone is $400 when bought brand new. Overall a great phone with a great price tag, perfect for your average 13/14 year old.

Alcatel 3
The Alcatel 3 I have reviewed previously in more detail here but that phone is very good. The battery life is good 8-9 hours. It can run games and social media smoothly. The photos are very good and can get a good portrait mode. The price is about $300 for a brand new one.
